I had won all of my cases, including the highest arbitration award in the history of my division. Then, legislation was passed that took away my ability to protect the elderly.  The Republican incumbent, State Senator John Carona, is proud to have helped pass that legislation. He brags about his “proven Republican leadership.” We need change to restore these vital legal protections for our senior citizens.

It's not just elderly Texans who have seen their American Dream stolen by Carona's “proven Republican leadership”:

• Pollution is eroding our families' health and our economic development potential. My children have a 75% greater chance of suffering from asthma than I did as a child.
• Middle-class families can no longer afford adequate healthcare.
• Our transportation system is being hijacked in the largest land grab in Texas history (the Trans Texas Corridor is an environmental, economic, transportation and property right nightmare).

As a native Texan and a parent with two small children, I will fight to reclaim the American Dream for all Texas families.
